About three years ago I learned that my friend, who is an MD, had been battling lactose intolerance for most of his life. Every time we ate dinner, there was the same ritual: stomach pains, headaches and he had to make a few trips to the restroom, to talk on the great white telephone. He said that the abdominal pain, blotting, diarrhea and vomiting was his best friend as he had had it most of his life.
He told anybody that would listen that lactose intolerance ran in his family and there was no solution. His young son had it much worst than he did. He had seen so many great specialist in the field who couldn’t help him. With his medical background it was hard to convince him that there was help for his symptoms. He didn’t want to listen to my point of view. I asked him about what he remembered about LACTASE, the enzyme that breaks down the lactose in dairy products into more soluble sugars. He didn’t want to listen about it; it was all herbal hocus pocus. I was upset because you could see that he had signs of malnutrition: he was very skinny and his skin didn’t look healthy. What could expect if you throw up after almost every meal.
In the meantime I did some research about digestive enzymes that are on the market with special attention to the ones that contained lactase. After comparing many products on the market, the winner was Maximizer made by RGarden. Maximizer is a plant enzyme supplement that contains 17 different types of digestive enzymes to aid in the pre-digestion of all the foods. It contains Lactase to break down the lactose in dairy products. I got one bottle of that product and gave it to my friend to try it. He was very skeptical but what had he to loose.
He ate a few capsules of Maximizer before each meal and to his surprise he didn’t experience any of the problems he had normally seen after eating dairy products. So he started taking them regularly. Since then his menu has expanded to include many of the foods that were on the forbidden list. No more abdominal pain, blotting, diarrhea, headaches and vomiting. He looks more healthy now and he enjoys eating a large variety of food.
The enzymes capsules do not cure lactose intolerance, but they help the body to digest food and avoid allergic reaction.
What are Enzymes? Enzymes are complex molecules, vital catalysts that are needed for every chemical reaction in the body. There are two major types of enzymes – metabolic and digestive. Metabolic enzymes help build body structure. Digestive enzymes work to break down large food molecules into smaller, readily absorbable building blocks the body requires. So the Maximizer had a lot of good digestive enzymes in it.
